International Women’s Day at The Windmill £5

Vanity Fairy, Maella, Girls 96, Nastazia Bazil

For the big day itself (International Women’s Day), head to Brixton to catch TNAM favourite Vanity Fairy along with a trio of other artists. Girls 96 are particularly intriguing with their Portuguese disco-punk style.

Hannah Lev, Bukky, Retropxssy, 98 Poly

Taking advantage of The Amersham’s many facilities, this event makes use of the gallery art upstairs while having performances from a variety of musicians in the back room. As someone who’s previously seen Bukky at this venue, she’s definitely one to catch.

March 15th

Flashback Records at The Shacklewell Arms £0

Brown Horse, Avice Caro, Ike

It’s often said that in the UK we don’t value country music enough, so all the more reason to come and see alt-country six piece Brown Horse totally for free. As a bonus incentive, the angelic Avice Caro is supporting.

March 16th

Flashback Records at The Shacklewell Arms £0

Brown Horse, Avice Caro, Ike

It’s often said that in the UK we don’t value country music enough, so all the more reason to come and see alt-country six piece Brown Horse totally for free. As a bonus incentive, the angelic Avice Caro is supporting.

March 17th

caroline at ICA £21.38

caroline

I think St Patricks Day means most are out drinking and not performing gigs so it was difficult to find a fitting suggestion but caroline are an amazing South London genre-blurring folk rock group and a great alternative to getting wasted at your local Irish bar, if that’s not your thing.

March 18th

Scout Gillett + A Ghost Column at The Shacklewell Arms £0

Scout Gillett, A Ghost Column

Brooklyn based folksy singer and guitarist Scout Gillett brings her tour to London accompanied by the illusive A Ghost Column.

March 19th

Eli, Trout

Two TNAM favourites Eli and Trout take to the stage joined by a mystery guest who will likely be as unmissable as they are. An interesting blend of electronic/trip-hop and alternative grunge.

March 20th

Overdrive at Hootananny Brixton £13.50

Nightbus, sounds mint, Dog Race

Coincidentally all 3 of these alternative bands feature one female member and all play around with genres to create intriguing music. Dog Race in particular somehow manage to make music how a vampire probably would.

March 21st

The People’s Sessions at Peckham Levels £6.12

Léa Mondo, Salt Moon

A ‘global gathering’ in the heart of Peckham, this is bound to be a chill night with both local artists incorporating elements of jazz into their music while also being inspired by reggae and folk respectively.

March 22nd

Flash Delirium & Paper Dress Live present Chaos Cabaret at Paper Dress Vintage £7+

Black Bordello, Velvetine, Red Lights Bar

Black Bordello is a great choice for an event that is meant to combine cabaret and abstract theatre as their music tows the line between both. The night also features a performance piece from the currently unknown group Red Lights Bar and disco and synthwave DJ sets after the gig.

March 23rd

Bad Vibes March All-Dayer at The Shacklewell Arms £10

Dog Race, Elaine Malone, Enabling Behaviour, The Queen’s Head, Ladylike

Another gig from Dog Race, this time featuring folk-rock quartet Ladylike, Irish singer Elaine Malone and more. As Bad Vibes point out, it’s only £2 per band. A bargain in this cost of living crisis.

March 24th

March 29th

On the Rocks at The Fox & Firkin £6+

Brand New Legs, The Public Eye, Aqualine, Red Ivory

After seeing Red Ivory at the Bird’s Nest in Deptford, I’ve kept an eye on what they’re doing and I think I’ll soon be doing the same for all bands on this lineup. If you like rock, this is where you need to be.
