Low Hummer, the 6 piece alternative dream rock group hailing from Hull has announced their split after 5 years as a band. After emerging in 2019 with their captivating single, “Don’t You Ever Sleep.” With a steadily evolving sound, they showcased their musical prowess through the release of their debut album, “Modern Tricks for Living,” in 2021 followed by an all-too-soon bow-out EP created by 2022/2023 single releases and final title track ‘Fade Young’. This news comes as a shock as the band has decided to cancel their Autumn tour. On this they stated:
“Unfortunately we’ve decided to call it a day as a band.
We’ve had some amazing times and are so thankful to everyone who has bought a record, come to a show, told their friends about us, bought merch or shown your appreciation of what we’ve been doing with the band.
Sadly this means the tour in Autumn won’t go ahead. For anyone who has bought a ticket, firstly thank you and sorry we can’t play as planned. You will be able to get a full refund from your ticketing provider.”
Now we have to say goodbye, we reminisce on their fuzzed-out indie frolics and heavy lyricism on feelings of alienation in a modern world of consumerism and societal pressures. The band’s outlook was characterized by an acerbic yet charming East Yorkshire demeanour, which infuses their music with a unique blend of cutting tirades and playful undertones. Low Hummer’s authentic approach is evident in their self-produced synth sound, reflecting their sincere dedication to their craft. As self-proclaimed “skint northerners,” they embrace a DIY ethos that fuels their creativity and fuels their desire to challenge conventions.
Low Hummer’s music resonated with listeners who appreciate their distinctive sound and lyrical depth. As they carved their name in the music industry, this band was committed to their artistic integrity and delivering captivating performances. With a genuine love for what they do, Low Hummer has made a lasting impact on the alternative rock scene and beyond.
