Today TRUNC released their restless and raging new single titled ‘BORED’ via Incantation Records self-described as an “unhinged hit in the face”. This is the second single release from the three-piece queer alternative pop and rock band in 2023 and I have to say I am excited for what’s to come. Seemingly it’s as if they have taken stock, finessed her sound, and begun to move in a different direction since their debut in 2022.

“BORED” is a high-octane, bass-driven track that grabs your attention from the very first note. Martha Phillips’ is pissed in her raw and intense vocals delivering a monologue that’s damn relatable, touching on themes of mental health, sexuality, and the challenges of life in Britain. The breakbeat drums and spirited riffs create a dynamic and lively atmosphere that perfectly complements the lyrics.

This is a song that demands to be heard and screamed too. What sets these guys apart is their experimentation and DIY punk attitude, I can guess Phillips’s experiences as a producer contribute to this genuinely exciting sound of TRUNC where you will not be able to hear a song and know where the next will go.
