‘Out of Touch’ combines indie pop, funk and hip-hop to create an infectious disco groove.
Souleance released their third single from their upcoming album ‘Beautiful’ earlier this month featuring the London-formed duo Kit Sebastian. The French duo delivers a funky, indie beat while Kit Martin uses the saz to create a catchy baseline. All the while Merve Erdem’s voice whistles through the hypnotic rhythm like a gentle breeze.
From the onset, ‘Out of Touch,’ throws the listener into a catchy, rhythmic world of funk. The beat continues at the same tone throughout the song, while Merve Erdem’s voice echoes through the upbeat rhythm. Erdem’s lyrics contravene the positive tone of the song as she sings about being unable to open herself up to love: ‘I don’t know why I run away, from your sweetest love…’ She continues to talk about how she is ‘out of touch’ with love as it is too ‘tough to trust.’
‘Out of Touch’ remains in touch with the roots of its artists, combining French, Turkish and London undertones to create an alternative, head-bopping groove. French producer Fulgeance and DJ Soulist have been producing music for over ten years, taking inspiration from Black Music and producing alternative disco tunes with hip-hop, rhythm and blues undertones.
Kit Sebastian is a duo formed in London by Kit Martin and Merve Erdem. The lyrics in their music blend English, French and Turkish to create a worldly aesthetic. Their music combines a mix of funky pop and mellow jazz with undertones of psychedelia. The duo uses a range of instruments to create a unique style like harpsichords, congas, bongos, saxophones and organs.
