The Northen Irish and Dutch Duo have released their first single of 2024, and it has set the stage for what else to expect from them this year. The single consists of two songs, the title track ‘Wait and See’ and ‘The Last Drop’. The single was released in early January and since then has been growing in popularity.
The title track Wait and See, starts with a big instrumental build up and then fades to a softer beat when the vocals begin. The song is about being stuck in a cycle and hoping it might change, the vocals from lead singer Joni Samuels perfectly captures that. The soft vocals paired with the rougher scratchier guitar work amazingly together and really adds that bit more to the song.
The second song on the album, The last Drop, starts very differently from Wait and See. The single starts with just the guitar riff, and then the vocals and drum beat kick in. The single is about pushing things down and using different coping techniques to do so. The beat of the drums throughout the chorus really adds to this as its constantly a build before returning to the original beat of the rest of the song, making you almost feel the lyrics that bit more.
The two songs together on this single work very well together, keeping that familiar sound but not sounding the same. Along with the singles the band have also released a music video for Wait and See, in the three weeks since it has been released the video has gotten over 77k views and it is well deserved. Since its release Wait and See has become the duos most popular song to date. I would look out for what this duo releases next.
