NEW SINGLE RELEASE - Oscar Scheller ‘8 Minute Abs’

Oscar Scheller advocates dad bods and tackles the battle of self-idealization with new, grungy indie-pop single ‘8 Minute Abs’

Seasoned bedroom pop professional and London based artist, Oscar Scheller has been navigating the music scene for over 8 years and is soon to bring fans his 4th album titled ‘Coming of Age’. Earlier this month he teased this release with what will be the first track on the album, ‘8 Minute Abs’.

Scheller’s artistic journey began with a heavy influence from US hip hop and R&B, which weaves in and out of his early 2015 releases. As his musical identity evolved, his love for The Strokes, The Cure, and The Smiths came to play. Throughout his catalogue Scheller has found a way to marry the many inspirations from his youth with his signature indie-pop sound and mellow vocals. To date he’s provided fans with a first-class list of collaborations, such as Lily Allen, AshNiko, Biig Piig, Mabel and Tkay Mazda.

His latest single ‘8 Minute Abs’ sports a grungy guitar progression, distorted vocals and and his witty lyricism that makes existential subject matter delightfully delectable. The 2 minute track tackles the complexities of satisfying one’s own expectations and the online stream of ‘quick fixes’ promoted to achieve them. Scheller expressed that his inspiration for the track came from seeing online adverts promoting 8 minute ab routines, leading him to explore what “this meant symbolically”. He told Dork Magazine  the track is “kind of a meditation on being a human and managing expectations of ourselves. Also, dad bods are in!”

While the New Age team is keeping eyes peeled for Oscar Scheller’s new album ‘Coming of Age’, we’ll eagerly await any more teasers he drops in the meantime. You can also catch him performing at Civic Hall, Nantwich on October 15th.
