Maria Uzor is oozing a dark bliss of nightclub energy in her new electronic synth-driven drill-wave fusion track ‘Ventolin’. As an artist, singer, keyboard player and ½ of the English post-punk dance duo Sink Ya Teeth, Uzor is an artist we love to see growing in the scene.
“This was actually the first song I wrote for the album back in November 2022.”, Maria explains. “It came together really quickly, like 10 minutes or something”
On first listen this song gave me pure sex appeal, there’s something in the mystery of Maria Uzors paced but confident commandments to the dancefloor “now give me some more”
, she’s not giving too much away but I for one am invested. Upon further research to a review made by Jasper Willems for Beats Per Minute, it appears we both fell into a similar misconception. “Big up to the asthmatics!” She has stated as the tune “Ventolin” is a playful tongue-in-cheek song on her experience with the condition and a shout-out to others facing the same thing.
Self-composed for her upcoming DEBUT album Soft Cuts, set to be released on October 13 through Castles In Space. Described as “electronic, eclectic and esoteric – clearly revelling in its own diversity and wilfulness, but also heavily loaded with some absolute stone-cold bangers. Ventolin is the first single taken from the album.*
