Past Life Romeo "Drew a Heart <3"

Past Life Romeo is the solo project of Camila Djadja, whose latest campaign is upon us.

The EP promises a blend of electro, hyperpop and rock to create a fresh alternative to modern pop music. And so far, we have little reason to doubt this claim: the sensual writing and voice of Camila, mixed with the eclectic productions of musician Carlos Loverboy who co-produced Past Life Romeo’s first EP, and the garage drums of Jim Casanova ensures an exciting experience for fans of the genre.

This first EP, titled “You Look Just Like Me”, is scheduled for release next month and offers a
mix of analog and digital; a disk that is both organic and intimate. Throughout the EP, we are set to discover the influence of Bon Iver and Burial, but also Sega Bodega or even the pop of Lorde. Mixed by James Rand the EP evokes introspection and intimate questions on change, self-image, gender and sexuality.

The first single to come from the EP “Sometimes, Most Nights” was released on PIAS on February 14, 2024 to acclaim from Wonderland, Radio France Inter, Tsugi, iHeart and saw a feature on Apple’s New Music Daily playlist, Inrocks selection, Têtu selection of the month and more.

A former lead-vocalist of the eclectic pop-rock band Sugar Pills, Camila is also known for her work with film and cinema, having produced several music videos as well as original
soundtracks. This diverse talent pool is reflected in her latest early release from the EP Drew A Heart <3, a pop-electronic sound infused with elements of drum and bass, as well as a shoegaze tendency reminiscent of My Bloody Valentine.

This project represents more than a fresh start for Djadja – it is even a fresher start for the hyperpop genre. This unmissable debut project will be released on 17th May, to the imminent high praise it deserves.
